Academic and designer Marina Bos-de Vos (TU Delft) initiated this research collective because she believes that the process of jointly creating value for society, organizations, and individuals in projects and programs driving societal transitions—such as advancing a circular economy, preventive healthcare, or carbon-neutral energy—needs to be intentionally designed and managed.

While joint value creation lies at the core of these projects and programs, it is often not well understood or supported, leading to tensions, inefficiencies, and outcomes that fall short of their ambitions. By bringing together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and educators from diverse disciplines, Marina aims to collectively advance knowledge of joint value creation in societal transitions and to explore how design and designers can play meaningful roles in making this complex process not only manageable, but also rewarding and enjoyable for everyone involved.
