Portrait of Filine

Filine van Driel completed her Master’s in Metropolitan Analysis, Design and Engineering (a joint degree by Wageningen University and TU Delft) in 2025, where she conducted her thesis Exploring Joint Value Creation in Collaborative Governance of Urban Living Labs. Her work examined how shared values and collaborative processes influence the success of sustainability projects in real-world urban settings.

Alongside her academic work, Filine has experience in hospitality and team-based projects, where she developed a strong appreciation for collaboration, communication, and trust. She enjoys building connections between people and disciplines and is passionate about creating communities that work together toward sustainable futures. Most recently, she helped organize the third edition of Pink Oktober Amsterdam with three BIZ’s of Amsterdam, an initiative supporting breast cancer awareness and fundraising for the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Foundation in collaboration with shop and business owners. Looking ahead, Filine aims to continue fostering community-driven collaboration for a more sustainable and inclusive urban future.

More about Filine

MADE student Filine van Driel explored the topic of joint value creation because she has always been fascinated by the dynamics of collaboration – how people with different perspectives and values come together to achieve shared goals. During her studies, she discovered that successful outcomes in complex urban sustainability projects depend not only on technical solutions but also on how people work together. With her graduation project, Filine aimed to deepen the understanding of collaboration within Urban Living Labs and to explore how value co-creation can help overcome governance challenges in multi-stakeholder settings.
