Portrait of Dimas Aryo

Dimas Aryo Wicaksono, or simply Aryo, is a researcher and practitioner in organizational change and development. He has a strong interest in how organizations evolve and adapt—particularly through the lens of organizational design. His current PhD research focuses on uncovering the underlying assumptions that form the core of organizational culture, as a response to or consequence of systemic changes and digital transformation.

Aryo believes that by developing frameworks and instruments to surface these underlying assumptions, organizations can achieve a deeper and more actionable understanding of their culture—beyond visible artifacts and espoused values. By collaborating with practitioners, scholars, and policymakers, he aims to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of organizational culture, particularly its deepest and often hidden layer.

This research journey reflects Aryo’s broader academic and professional background. He is currently a PhD Candidate at the Department of Design, Organization and Strategy, Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, TU Delft, and a Lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Airlangga (Indonesia), specializing in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

His multidisciplinary perspective—bridging psychology and design—provides a unique approach to studying organizations and their cultural dynamics. Aryo views organizational culture as both an identity and compass guiding behavior, decision-making, and long-term adaptation. However, he notes that many organizations struggle to recognize or access the deeper assumptions that truly shape their culture.

Therefore, his research explores how organizations can surface and realign these underlying assumptions in times of technological and systemic change. Aryo is always open to collaboration, dialogue, and shared learning with others who are passionate about organizations and design. His broader goal is to bridge academic research and organizational practice, helping organizations navigate digital transformation in a more human-centered and culturally aligned way.
